Italian Language School in Turin
Looking for an Italian Language School in Turin? L’Italiano Porticando is an Italian language school also offering cultural immersion for foreigners in Turin’s historic city center, the “Quadrilatero Romano”. So, what does L’Italiano Porticando mean? When the Italian language school was founded in 2005 the three partners, Rosaria, Caterina and Laura, wanted to give their “creation” a name representing the school’s mission: teaching and learning Italian while walking under Turin’s 18 kilometers of porticoes and discovering the architecture and arts of Italy’s first capital, Turin.
The project of starting an Italian language school was a bit of a risk considering, in that point of time, Turin’s reputation was that of a mere grey “industrial” city not worth visiting. But the founders (along with many visitors to Turin) disagree and strongly believed it was time to show the world that this authentic Italian city, between the Alps and the Ligurian seaside, actually had a lot more to offer discerning travelers and students tired of finding themselves among thousands of English speaking people as in more touristy cities like Rome, Florence or Venice.
Today, Turin is a magnet for cultural events thanks to its many national museums, like The National Museum of Cinema, the Egyptian Museum, many modern arts exhibitions and yearly international appointments, as the International Book Fair and the Salone del Gusto. Turin is also a magical place full of different activities to follow at night, with many places for entertainment, unique and alternative restaurants, wine bars and cafés where everybody can have a good time.
The Italian language school, open all year round, organizes many different types of Italian language courses from standard courses, to courses in small groups and private lessons, for all ages and levels of proficiency. In fact, at L’Italiano Porticando you can find people between the ages of 18 and 80 coming from all five continents having one aim in common: to learn the Italian language in a pleasant atmosphere with qualified, patient and, above all, passionate teachers.
For the school’s team the student’s needs have to be considered…from the first point of contact to arrival at the school and afterwards, our students are not a “number”, but a person with needs and wishes to be listened to and cared for. Feeling at ease is an imperative condition to make progress in language learning and enjoy Turin and Italy. This is also valid for L’Italiano Porticando’s afternoon activities where the students can join cooking lessons in Piedmontese cuisine, take part in wine and chocolate tastings (Turin and Piedmont are famous for wine and chocolate) and enjoy walks in the historic city center, where students can practice outside the classroom what they have learned in the morning at school.
Furthermore, those who have the ambition to learn more about Italy’s culture can join the schools combined courses: a combination of a standard course on general Italian with a cultural course on literature, arts, architecture, cinema, music, fashion or, why not, with tango! A language course at L’Italiano Porticando Torino will thus become not only full immersion into the Italian language but an unforgettable experience!
